Brazos de Amistad (“Arms of Friendship”)

Brazos de Amistad Soup Kitchen was founded by the López family after having lived in this community for many years and seeing the need of the children in Guadalajara. Specifically, they felt called to help children from low-income families. At Brazos de Amistad children receive not only a hot meal but a comprehensive program that provides also for their spiritual and physical needs. Brazos de Amistad offers lunch for local children four days a week, as well as a day where they hand out donated food. Currently there are over 100 children who come to Brazos de Amistad on a regular basis!

In addition to the food program, they also organize various activities for children such as field trips, Vacation Bible Schools, and throwing celebrations for many holidays and important family days such as Children’s day, Mother’s day and graduations!

Every summer, there is one event that is much anticipated by all of the children – summer camp! Most of these children would never otherwise get to participate in summer camps due to the fact that they live in extreme poverty and have very limited family resources. Brazos de Amistad summer camp takes place in a beautiful water park where the children can fully enjoy their time while being ministered to through regular devotions and Bible studies. These children get the opportunity to spend three fun-filled days where they get to put into practice everything that they have learned throughout the year and just have fun!
